San Jose, Costa Rica
We are inviting the Celebration Orchestra to come for a series of concerts in central Costa Rica. This country has had relative political stability, but the population is ever sinking in a lifestyle where there is anything but inner peace in one’s heart. Morally speaking, we are in bankruptcy. We also need for local Christians to see a fresh and innovative way to present the Gospel through music. Several local pastors have requested for you come to Costa Rica.
Many people around the world and in the country call Costa Rica the "Switzerland of Central America” for both the outstanding green landscapes, the flora, and fauna. This nation is a strong democracy, does not have a standing army, and is relatively stable politically and economically.
Many Americans have chosen to retire in Costa Rica. The cost of living is not the lowest in Central America, but it may be the best value. Costa Rica offers its citizens and retirees superior healthcare, and a modern infrastructure (including high speed internet). Costa Rica has an eight-month rainy season. However, we are planning for you to come in early February, which is the dry season that would allow us to have outdoor events.
Project Objectives:
Bring a fresh and innovative way to evangelize our local community through music.
Encourage churches to create a wider music program using many different instruments in God’s praises.
Encourage believers to invite non-believers to hear the concert and invite them to receive Christ. Pastors will be asked to follow-up and counsel.
We hope that the Celebration Orchestra will also experience a spiritual blessing by giving their time and musical skills. Christians that are going to attend the concerts will be asked to bring a non-Christian family member or friend in place of purchasing a ticket.
Costa Rica is predominantly a Roman-Catholic country. A great deal of effort has been placed on musical education. Thus, there is a large number of well-trained musicians. Unfortunately, most of them do not participate in evangelical churches. GMP can potentially create a vision for an expanding music ministry program in churches and encourage more instrumentalists to participate.
Project Highlights:
A concert in an amphitheater.
A concert at the International Baptist Church. They have a large main building. This is an English speaking local church, however, during the concert we will have simultaneous translations as in other places.
A concert at Vida Abundante Norte Cariari. This church is very fortunate to be blessed with a large campus and a large auditorium.
Teaching opportunity with students.
5 - 7 concerts.
Cost:
The cost for this Music Mission Project is $2,995 and includes air and ground transportation, accommodations, breakfast, insurance, Project Development, entrance fees and a GMP Travel Leader. The cost can be divided into multiple payments.
Charitable Donation:
Global Missions Project is a non-profit, interdenominational Christian Ministry dedicated to developing ministry opportunities for every church musician. All expenses are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Have a Question?
-
We get it. You love playing your instrument or singing in the choir and want to do more with your gift. But how? That's where we come in.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to use their God-given talent to serve the Lord. We take teams of choirs, orchestras, and jazz bands around the world to share the good news of Jesus.
-
Music is connecting. No matter the language of a song, it's the music that binds people together.[Our projects consist of evangelistic concerts with the gospel interwoven between songs.
In many countries we have the opportunity to play music in conjunction with local musicians. We also serve by teaching music and sharing our testimonies with others.
-
In fact, we DO need you! God has a special plan for your life that includes using you to minister to others.
-
Nope. You sure don't! That's why we exist - to form teams comprised of individuals that have a heart for missions and want to serve the Lord through music.
Find a project and hop on board!
-
Of course! In fact, we encourage it! We can always use an extra set of hands and a smiling face :)
-
Typically, as long as you have at least 4 years of playing experience, you're good! However, we may ask about prior playing experience to help us assign music parts.
-
Typically the music is sent out one month before the project. Once we land in the country we're going to, we'll have one rehearsal, then we're off and running!
-
For instruments that aren't airplane friendly (tuba, upright bass, etc), we can usually rent them in the country we're going to. Let us know which project you're interested in and we'll help work it out!
-
Almost the whole kit and caboodle! The project cost includes air transportation, transportation within the country, accommodations, one meal per day, sightseeing excursions, and insurance on yourself and your instrument.
The project cost does not include an entry visa (if applicable), a US passport, domestic travel to the airport, and two meals per day.
-
You can, but you don't have to! On average, each project is broken into 4 or 5 payments with an average of 2-3 months between payments.
-
Stepping out in faith is an important part of going! There are many ways to raise support - sending a support letter to friends and family, asking your church for support, forgoing that $5 drink from Starbucks, having a garage sale, and most importantly through prayer! God doesn't just call you to go, He also provides for you.
-
They are! We are a 501c3 which makes your donations tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. You can deduct your project cost in addition to any other expenses accrued during travel.
-
We always include excursions to learn about the culture of the country. However, our goal is missions, so that will be the main focus of the project!
