METRO BIG BAND
January 17 - 28, 2024
Metro Big Band recently completed a wonderful mission project in Poland This was our second project partnering with the Gospel Joy Choir, led by our mission partner Baca. They are an amazing group of singers! We took a great team of instrumentalists to create music together. Even though our concerts were in city culture center auditoriums, we were allowed the freedom to share freely all that we had in our hearts. The Gospel was shared to over 4,300 people!
One day we heard a presentation by Andrew (below), Baca’s brother. For the last 5 years, he has been leading the largest coalition of over 100 evangelical pastors in Poland towards reaching the Polish for Christ. Evangelicals make up .02% of the population in Poland, so the need is great. They’re also in the process of purchasing a former hotel (below) to be used as a retreat center to encourage Believers and train pastors. Gospel Joy is an integral part of this ministry as well.
On Sunday we attended Amazing Grace Church (founded by Andrew 4 years ago) to worship with our new Polish friends. It was a sweet time of fellowship and sharing together as we worshiped and studied God’s word.
There is nothing like children to brighten your day! Our presentations in the schools were a joy to share music and God’s truth.
Gospel Joy Choir is truly joyful! Their energy is infectious and ignites the audience as they present their songs of God’s love and truth. Every concert was sold out and the rooms were packed. The people were so energetic and responsive to the message. All of the songs that we did were Gospel songs like, “Take Me Back”, “Joshua Fit The Battle of Jericho”, “Jesus, What A Wonderful Child”, and “Oh Happy Day”. We really enjoyed spending time with the members of Gospel Joy. They were so receptive of the music that we added to their singing and also the testimonies that we shared with them.
We found Poland to be a beautiful country (even in the snow!) and the people were so welcoming, warm and gracious. English is the second language and we had very little difficulty communicating even with our virtually non-existent Polish knowledge. The food was great too!
One of our participants, James Wheeler, put together a great video (below) recapping the trip. Be sure to read his full recap on how the project impacted him.
Here’s what a few of our participants had to say about the project:
“Each trip strengthens my commitment to serve Christ with all I have.”
“Every project has been great EVERY time! Serving others rather than being served is always a solid plan.”
“I really felt God leading me into musical missions a year ago and I know that I am living out His plan for my life.”
Here’s a couple of videos from our concerts. We can’t wait to go back in 2027!
