Cape Town, South Africa
From Our Mission Partners:
South Africa is still recovering from the apartheid years. Racial tension is high. The country struggles with corruption in government and lack of good leadership. Spiritually, syncretism reigns, with compromises made to African traditional religions and secularism. The country has one of the most liberal and permissive constitutions in the world, and increasingly Christianity is being side-lined, with concerns about land, poverty and crime becoming the main issue.
There is a strong Islamic push in the country, and many false cults and Christian sects, like Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons. Christianity is being damaged by a strong influence of “apostle” leaders with massive followings who have recently been indicted for corruption, abuse, rape and so on. The country needs strong, “normal” Christians to stand up for Christ, exemplify a life following Jesus, and proclaim the Gospel clearly, and without compromise to other beliefs.
This is where Global Missions Project can partner with Origin South Africa in the city of Cape Town.
Project Objectives:
Gospel proclamation through music in prisons, public spaces, churches and schools, in partnership with local churches and prison chaplains.
Project Highlights:
After a 2018 tour, a UK band said that ministering in South Africa had been one of their life highlights! We plan to visit prisons, churches, public spaces and play, and testify to God’s glory and His power in our lives.
Expect to visit churches in diverse neighborhoods – predominantly black and isiXhosa-speaking, mixed-race Afrikaans churches, and mainly-white English areas. South African society is still very much divided on racial lines – one of the things Origin South Africa is trying to counter by preaching the Gospel, and exemplifying unity in Christ. Our primary goal is to see God glorified, and people drawn to Him.
As a place to visit, Cape Town is one of the world’s greatest tourist destinations, and we will organize visits to some of the main attractions in down time such as, Table Mountain, The Cape of Good Hope, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, etc.
For those that want to stay and visit after the tour, some of the greatest National Parks and wildlife in the world await.
Cost:
The cost for this Music Mission Project is $4,795 and includes air and ground transportation, accommodations, breakfast, insurance, Project Development, entrance fees and a GMP Travel Leader. The cost can be divided into multiple payments.
Charitable Donation:
Global Missions Project is a non-profit, interdenominational Christian Ministry dedicated to developing ministry opportunities for every church musician. All expenses are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Join a community that answered the call to missions!
You've got two options:
1) Do nothing and continue life on the hamster wheel or 2) Finally do something about it. We can't help with option 1 - but option 2? We got you! Say yes to making a change with music and taking the Gospel all around the world.

Have a Question?
-
We get it. You love playing your instrument or singing in the choir and want to do more with your gift. But how? That's where we come in.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to use their God-given talent to serve the Lord. We take teams of choirs, orchestras, and jazz bands around the world to share the good news of Jesus.
-
Music is connecting. No matter the language of a song, it's the music that binds people together.[Our projects consist of evangelistic concerts with the gospel interwoven between songs.
In many countries we have the opportunity to play music in conjunction with local musicians. We also serve by teaching music and sharing our testimonies with others.
-
In fact, we DO need you! God has a special plan for your life that includes using you to minister to others.
-
Nope. You sure don't! That's why we exist - to form teams comprised of individuals that have a heart for missions and want to serve the Lord through music.
Find a project and hop on board!
-
Of course! In fact, we encourage it! We can always use an extra set of hands and a smiling face :)
-
Typically, as long as you have at least 4 years of playing experience, you're good! However, we may ask about prior playing experience to help us assign music parts.
-
Typically the music is sent out one month before the project. Once we land in the country we're going to, we'll have one rehearsal, then we're off and running!
-
For instruments that aren't airplane friendly (tuba, upright bass, etc), we can usually rent them in the country we're going to. Let us know which project you're interested in and we'll help work it out!
-
Almost the whole kit and caboodle! The project cost includes air transportation, transportation within the country, accommodations, one meal per day, sightseeing excursions, and insurance on yourself and your instrument.
The project cost does not include an entry visa (if applicable), a US passport, domestic travel to the airport, and two meals per day.
-
You can, but you don't have to! On average, each project is broken into 4 or 5 payments with an average of 2-3 months between payments.
-
Stepping out in faith is an important part of going! There are many ways to raise support - sending a support letter to friends and family, asking your church for support, forgoing that $5 drink from Starbucks, having a garage sale, and most importantly through prayer! God doesn't just call you to go, He also provides for you.
-
They are! We are a 501c3 which makes your donations tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. You can deduct your project cost in addition to any other expenses accrued during travel.
-
We always include excursions to learn about the culture of the country. However, our goal is missions, so that will be the main focus of the project!
